Access to Capital NYC: Bringing Funding to the Concrete Jungle

New YorkAccess to Capital is finishing off 2014 in New York City on Nov. 12. Over 200 people have registered for the one-day event, which includes a panel of lending experts that will discuss traditional and alternative lending options, and spotlight presentations on equity, crowdfunding and business credit. Small business owners will also have the ability to sign up for pre-scheduled, one-on-one meetings with a range of lenders, legal experts, business resources, and advisors.

The event takes place at Lighthouse Chelsea Piers from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. and the day is jam-packed with speakers and presentations, including a panel moderated by Kate Rogers from CNBC entitled “Traditional vs. Alternative Loans: What’s right for your business?”

Local and national lending experts along with entrepreneurs will share their stories with small business owners in hopes of helping them understand the best funding option for their business. This is incredibly valuable information since 65% of New York and New Jersey small to medium-sized businesses believe that they will have difficulty raising both equity and debt financing within the next six months, according to Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp. and Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management’s Third Quarter 2014 Private Capital Access Index Survey (PCA).

Even with lower interest rates, small businesses are still not applying for loans, and are instead seeking alternative lenders with higher rates because they fear having their loan application denied.

“Our economy is still on the mend and won’t be finally healed until our small businesses are able to access the funding they need to grow and thrive,” said Jeff Stibel, Chairman and CEO of Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp. “We look forward to bringing our Access to Capital event to New York City and providing small businesses in the region with the education and access to funding options that they are lacking.”
